About Me
I am currently a full-time Undergraduate student at the University of Huddersfield, studying Media and Popular Culture, with interests including television, YouTube and sport, specifically women’s football.
Throughout my work and school experiences, I have learnt to be hard working and to be an example student and colleague. At school, college and university, I have had 99% attendance and 0 disciplinary records, and was honoured to be selected to as a prefect at high school. I was encouraged to apply for this role as many teachers thought I would be perfect for the position. Taking responsibility for the school and the safety of other pupils meant that I could transfer then skills when I started coaching the Under 9’s, 10’s and 11’s girls football teams at Ashton Pumas GFC.
I have been coaching at Ashton Pumas since 2016, and through this I have learnt to be organised as I am responsible for 15+ players. The team’s trains twice a week and play games on a Saturday morning, meaning I have to be prepared to make sure the girls are always having fun and learning at the same time. Coaching helped me be confident in speaking in front of large groups and to pass my knowledge on to the players. In my first season of coaching I was honoured to be awarded as the Manager of the Season and the team even finished 2nd in the league. I have also recently achieved my FA Level 1 Coaching Badge, meaning I have passed both my First Aid and Safeguarding.
Since playing football from the age of 9, I have always been passionate about the sport, and learnt to be a great team player and leader. I currently play football for Tameside United Ladies and when started I had to build a rapport with other teammates so we work well together in matches and at training. The first team I played for was the Manchester FA School of Excellence playing teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and other FA schools of excellence across the country.
As well as doing voluntary work for Ashton Pumas, I have also worked at my local Morrison’s store as a Customer Service Assistant. My role mainly included working on the tills and self-service checkouts but I also helped with displaying and replenishing stock, and, serving food in the café. Whilst at Morrison’s I learnt how to serve and speak to customers in a polite and respectable manner, making sure I was setting a good representation of the company. I thoroughly enjoy my experience at Morrison’s and was sad to leave but I learnt many things about this type of business and made many friends.
